BOOKING  INFORMATION


Fares -

If you are making a reservation via this  reservation system - the following fare structure is of the Interislander. Fare Types/Prices are as of 1 Oct 05 -

1.    Individual Fares Types (One Way only)-

a.    Easy Change/International Fare -
This fare is available to all passengers whether you are a New Zealand resident or if you reside outside New Zealand.

The following fares are available to New Zealand Residents only and are NOT for sale outside New Zealand.

b.    Saver Change - (For Guidence Only)

Adult - NZ$45.00-NZ$55.00 per person
Child (2-15Yrs) - NZ$20.00-NZ$30.00 per child

c.     Ultra Saver - (For Guidence Only)
Adult - NZ$39-$45.00
Child (2-15Yrs) - NZ$20.00-NZ$25.00 per child

d.    Senior Citizens Fare (For Person 60 years & over) - (For Guidence Only)

Adult - NZ$35.00-NZ$40.00 per person

The above fares are limited in number and are subject to availability until a reservations has been confirmed.

The above fares are only available if you reside within New Zealand and are not available if you reside or live outside New Zealand. Identification is required when a reservation is being made.

e.     Student Fare - (For Guidence Only)

Adult - NZ$40.00-NZ$45.00 per person

Student Fares are available for any Interislander ferry service. Student Fares is an 'Advance Purchase' fare and is subject to availability at time at the time of booking. Identification is required. Student fares are valid for students who are attending a New Zealand tertiary instutition/s only.  

Student fares are not valid for ISIC Student cards

f.    Group Fares - (For Guidence Only)

Group fares available to any group travel from within New Zealand or from overseas. 

Group Fare discounts  are -

          10-19 Passengers - 10% discount of the Easy Change/International Fare
          20 plus Passengers - 15% discount of the Easy Change/International Fare

All 'Advance Purchase' fares are limited and subject to availability at the time of booking.

Change/Refund/Cancellation Conditions -

As required by Interislander - all refund requests must be made within 30 days of the scheduled day of departure. Cancellations are subject to the following refund conditions -

a.    Easy Change* -
*      Re-issue/s and transfer/s can be made, subject to availability, prior to time of check in.
*      Payment is due 28 Days after booking date/confirmation
*      If travel is within 28 Days, payment is due date will be halfway between booking/confirmation date and
       the travel date. 

b.    Saver Change* -
*      An 50% refund will be given if cancellation is advised prior to time of check in
*      Re-issue/s and transfer/s can be made, subject to availability, prior to time of check in

*      Payment is due 14 Days after booking date/confirmation
*      If travel is within 28 Days, payment is due date will be halfway between booking/confirmation date and
       the travel date. 

c.   Ultra Saver*-
*     
No refunds or Re-issues.  Can be transfered to another sailing time/date but an upgrade to a higher fare may be required once 'Ticket' has been  issued

*      Payment is due 3 Days after booking date/confirmation

d.    International Fare* -
*      International fare is booked on the same booking conditions as a Easy Change.
*      Re-issue/s and transfer/s can be made, subject to availability, prior to time of check in. 
*      For a full cancellation and/or payment of a reservation, a 20% Cancellation Fee will apply.

* An additional 'Refund Processing' Fee of 10-20% will be charged by Rail New Zealand Reservation Centre if a reservation is cancelled after the 'Ticket' has been issued.

Reservations -

All passengers and vehicles travelling on an Interislander Ferry must have a reservation.

Bookings made online from outside New Zealand are charged at Standard Fares. 

Passenger's fare additional to the cost of taking any car, campervan, minibus, etc on any Interislander ferry. If a car towing a trailer or caravan, the cost of the trailer or caravan is additional to the cost of the car plus the cost of the paseengers with in the car.

Due to operational requirements of Interislander ferry, the sailing time that you have requested may not be available.

If the sailing time you have requested on this reservation request is not available, a reservation will be confirmed with another sailing time that is closest to the original time requested unless specified to the contrary in the above 'Comments' field of this reservation request.

Our Reservation Support Centre processes email reservations 7 days a week.

Any reservation submitted unless less than 48 hours prior to sailing date - payment must by a Visa, Mastercard, Bankcard Australia, American Express or Diners Club credit/checking card. 

All prices quoted are in New Zealand dollars and include Goods and Service tax. All fares are subject to availability and may be changed without notice. 

For all Travel Agents who book via this Internet based reservation system, your Client is booked on the International Fare and standard Travel Agent's commission is paid.

Payment -

When you make a reservation, a payment due date will be advised on your email confirmation. If payment has not  been advised by that date your reservation will be cancelled.

All payments are to be by a credit card - Visa, Mastercard, Bankcard, Diners Club and Amercian Express.

Payment by Internet Banking is allowed, as long as the bank is located in New Zealand and has inter-bank transaction facility with New Zealand Banks

Payment by Internet banking must no less than 36 hours prior to due payment date.

If payment is by Internet Banking, please allow over night processing, unless your are an ASB Bank customer.

For New Zealand residents only - Payment can be also by a cheque drawn on a New Zealand Bank or by Internet Banking.

Please Note - Reservation can not be booked before any departure date, if payment is going to made on the day of travel.

If payment is by a credit card and if you dispute your credit card charge  as - 'Transaction not authorised by the cardholder' and if it is found that you had been checked in and travel on the service you had made a reservation for, there will be a NZ$25.00 fee to process your credit card dispute.

If you make a reservation and your reservation has been confirmed to you in writing and you directly to the Interisland Line or to another agent/wholesaler of the Interislander, Rail New Zealand will charge a NZ$25.00 booking fee.


Booking Conditions -

a.   All fares are subject to availability
b.   If the ferry time requested on the reservation request is not available, a reservartion will be made with
      another time that is closest to the original time requested unless specified to the contrary in the
      'Comments' field of the reservation request.
c.   Some discounted fares may not be available on some sailings, particulary at peak times.
d.   Only Easy Change or International fares are available or transferable on the day of travel.
e.   All fares are non-refundable and non-transferable after time of check in.
f.    All vehicles must be accompanied by a driver, at the same fare type.
g.   House trucks must have more than 50% of the vehicle permantly converted as living space.
h.   Trailers or caravans must be towed by another vehicle and be paid for seperately.
i.    Additional charges may apply when carrying freight.  This includes the transportation of personal
      household goods
j.    All fares, services and facilities are subject to change without notice.
k.   Day Excursion return fares are non-refundable after the time of check in of the first leg. Reissues are
      subject to the maximum return time conditions of  Day Excursion fares.

If you are traveling on any Interislander ferry service and you live outside New Zealand, it is strongly recommend that you have the necessary travel insurance to cover any disruption or cancellation of your travel plans whilist in New Zealand.

Any dispute/s concerning a reservation comes under New Zealand law and is to be heard in a New Zealand Court of Law.
